Good morning, everyone.

Today I have a non-threat to tell you about, as well as a quick reminder about Windows 10 end of support.

Current Non-Threat

  • Faculty/Staff Season Ticket Holders (email)
    • I have gotten some questions about an email from UT Athletics.
    • The sender was Tennessee Athletics with the domain of @engage.ticketmaster.com.
    • The subject was Verify Your UT Faculty/Staff Status.
    • The message states that you are receiving the email because your season tickets have been identified with a “Faculty/Staff” status.
    • The message says that you need to complete the verification form by providing your UT personnel number.
    • At the point of entering information it asks for your NetID, not your personnel number.
    • The message also says that you have to complete the form by July 15 or the Faculty/Staff discount will be removed from your account.
    • I did verify the phone number and email address given in the message are correct by checking the UT directory and the Ticket Office website.
    • I also called the phone number and spoke with someone in the Ticket Office.
    • The person verified this is legitimate and Athletics is using this as a way to get confirmation that season ticket holders with faculty/staff status are still current faculty or staff.

Important Information

  • Windows 10 Reminder
    • Windows 10 is officially reaching end of support on October 14, 2025.
    • This means that after this date, Microsoft will no longer provide free software updates, technical assistance, or security patches for Windows 10.
    • Without these updates and security patches, your computer will become more vulnerable to all security threats.
    • If  you are still running Windows 10  you need to upgrade to Windows 11.
    • If you are with the UT College of Veterinary Medicine, the CVM Support group will help you will this.
    • If you are with UT Extension or UT AgResearch and Education Centers across the state, your regional IT staff will help you with this.
    • If you are located on the Knoxville campus or one of the Knoxville-area locations that gets assistance from the UTK OIT HelpDesk, please call (865) 974-9900 to request help.

I appreciate everything you all do! Don’t hesitate to let me know any time you have any questions or concerns!

Sandy

Important Note: Thank you so much for sharing these e-newsletters with family, friends, clients, students, and anyone else who may benefit from the information. I would like to stress that you should keep your students in mind, as non-employee students will not get this information without someone sharing. If anyone else has an email group for students who are not employees of your department, please let me know that address and I can include it. I do this as a blind copy so student names and addresses will not show up!
